Who Is Progress?

Looked-after children have often had life experiences that cause them to need special care to achieve stability in childhood and eventually return to their families (wherever possible).

Progress employs a thorough testing, training and rigorous assessment procedure to make sure children are matched with families who have the best skills to meet their specific needs, ensuring minimal placement breakdowns occur.

As a professional team of experienced carers and skilled practitioners, Progress is committed to working with foster carers to achieve positive outcomes for all looked-after young people.

As an independent agency with three Midlands offices, Progress supports fostering and care of children that local authorities cannot place with their own registered carers.

This may be because the children require additional attention and careful handling as a result of disability, learning difficulty, asylum seeker status, abusive relationships or violent or sexualised behaviour (both their own and that of others).

Progress matches these more demanding children to foster carers, providing a therapeutic support package including education and health coordinators to help the carer succeed in their placement. It’s crucial the children are restored quickly into calm and progressive family settings to provide the positive experiences they need. The alternative for these deserving children is resorting to group care in institutionalised environments where they may not achieve their potential.
